Five energy saving tips

  • Turn the thermostat down by 1 degree but maintain an indoor temperature that is above 18 degrees. Reducing the temperature by one degree may not be noticeable in temperature, but should be noticeable in your energy usage and bills.
  • Switch off lights and non-essential electrical devices when not in use.
  • Don’t over fill the kettle. Only boil what you need.
  • Know how your heating system works and try to improve controls. A well-maintained and correctly programmed heating system can heat only the necessary rooms when needed.
  • Insulate where possible and draught proof around windows and doors. Improving insulation can help trap heat in, reducing the energy needed to keep homes comfortable.
